Product Overview
Soon after Alta Audio introduced the Rhea in 2015, Stereophile’s Herb Reichert commented:
“The music coming out of the rosewood Alta Audio Rhea loudspeakers ($4495/pair) seemed almost too good to be true. Not that Alta loudspeakers don’t always play nicely, but what I was hearing seemed extra-ordinary… With both CD and LP sources, the Altas played like they cost $50k.”
We couldn’t agree more. Though unimposing in physical size, the two-way Rhea presents an ultra-wide soundfield with exceptional bass response.

An Audiophile Perspective
Alta Audio created the Rhea to satisfy music lovers with an appetite for lifelike sonics if not the room for a full-size tower loudspeaker.
Rhea creates the space and specificity of the concert hall with all the power of live performance. Created using the same XTL* Bass (patent pending) transmission line and DampHard cabinet construction on the faceplate as our highly reviewed Celesta FRM-2M speakers, the Rhea presents all the intimate details of three-dimensional images from the front to the deepest parts of the concert hall.
A black seven-inch midrange/woofer blends smoothly and seamlessly with the five-inch pure ribbon tweeter, creating a sound that can move a listener to tears.
*Extended Transmission Line—Alta Audio’s proprietary technology that applies sonic geometry to tune speaker cabinets as if they are musical instruments, delivering an accurate, fast, and powerful low frequency response.
